The Waiting Area.

Patience is a virtue. And I don’t have it. I’m serious. I have a lot of ambition though, and when I want things… I want them done now. So, naturally, I’m not a good waiter. (no, not like a restaurant waiter). I mean in general, in life, I don’t like to wait.

Waiting is hard for me. Transitions are not easy. They’re actually very frustrating. And, these past couple of months, I found myself in a waiting season. It was difficult. However, what was even more difficult was that I had no idea what I was waiting for.

I was just waiting. For my future to take some kind of shape, for God to create some kind of path for me to walk on. I was just waiting.

It felt like I was in the waiting area. Like at a hospital or the doctor’s office. That can be such a scary place to be in. And if you let it, it can drive you insane. But there I was, in the waiting area, for months. Waiting for God to call my name, tell me His plans for me, His diagnosis for my life.

And many of you might be in the waiting area right now. Feeling frustrated, feeling like you might go insane. You’re waiting for God to call your name. or for Him to deliver on a promise or on a desire, or on a need.

but He hasn’t yet. So you’ve been sitting there, waiting.

What do you do? Give up? no. Walk out? no. Scream, cry, throw a fit? (i’ve done this, the answer is no.)

So, what do you do?

Endure.

Push through. Keep sitting. Keep waiting.

Sing praises to God. Worship Him. This will help keep your sanity. Pray. Talk to God. Ask Him questions. You might find answers.

Next, remember. Remember the times you sat and waited and He called your name. Remember all the things and experiences that you enjoy now because you waited.

Remember the God you serve. Remember His faithfulness. Remember that He who starts a good work will finish it. To endure the darkness, remember the light. To endure the waiting, remember His faithfulness.

Then prepare. Prepare yourself so you’re ready for when your name is called. Sometimes, God prepares before He calls. Look around, notice the ways God is preparing you.

The waiting area is not always a fun place or season. It requires a high level of endurance and a crazy amount of faith. But, while you’re waiting, the Designer of the Universe is a carefully crafting a plan custom-made, just for you. for your benefit. for your good.

why wouldn’t you wait on that?
